Indonesia has many folk tales, one of which surrounds the famous Tangkuban Perahu mountain that we will visit the next. A story told generation to generation, it was claimed that Mount Tangkuban Perahu was once an overturned boat that eventually became a mount that it is today. But that’s a story for you to find when you visit Bandung.


Galunggung volcano also awaits for you in Bandung. This mount will definitely fascinate you with its amazingly beautiful greenish crater lake. To get to the crater, you’ll need to climb up hundreds of steps to reach the peak of the active tar volcano.


History of West Java is another point you’ll get from West Java in Depth trip. We’ll be taking you to secluded Cangkuang temple in Garut. Cangkuang may not as famous as Borobudur temple and Prambanan temple in Central Java, but it indeed is an important artifact in Tatar Sunda (another name for West Java) as it’s the only Hindu temple discovered in the area.

Day 01 : Arrival Jakarta International Airport / Bandung - Garut (L,D)

  • Our guide will greet and pick you up at the Airport before transferring you directly to Garut city. The road trip will take approximately 5 hours.
  • We will have a short stopover at a traditional coffee factory in Bandung, named Kopi Aroma. There, we will see the roasting and brewing process of Java’s famous coffee.
  • Dinner will be provided at the hotel. Overnight in Kampung Sampireun.

Day 02 : Full Day Kampung Naga Exploration - Mt. Galunggung (B,L,D)

  • This will be the main attraction of this trip. The Kampung Naga (Dragon Village) is a hamlet located in the area of Neglasari Village, Salawu District, Tasikmalaya Regency, West Java Province, Indonesia. It is only 26 km from Garut.
  • Kampung Naga is a village which is inhabited by a community in a very strong tradition of holding the remainder ancestors.
  • The differences are visible when compared with other communities outside Kampung Naga. The community are living in the framework of an atmosphere in a traditional simplicity and environmental wisdom.
  • Before entering the village, you will require to register at the entrance of the village and will be informed about things that should and should not be done during your visit in the village.
  • While your local guide explaining about the terms and conditions for the visitors, you will be served the welcome drink that is consisted of a cup of warm tea and the coconut palm sugar.
  • After that, the guide will take you around the village to see the daily activity of the villagers and take an exclusive look on the daily habit of this exclusive community.
  • Leaving the hamlet, we will head to Mount Galunggung on the way back to our hotel.
  • Mount Galunggung is one of the active tar volcanoes in the Sunda plateau which had the last eruption occurred in 1994.
  • You’ll be challenged to climb up as many as 620 stairs to reach its peak where there is the greenish crater lake of mount Galunggung is waiting to greet you. Take some pictures of the beautiful scenery over the 2.167m above sea level.
  • Overnight in Kampung Sampireun.

Day 03 : Garut - Bandung ( B,L )

  • We will check out from the hotel after breakfast.
  • Next, we will drive to visit the 8th century Hindu temple located in Kampung Pulo in Garut.
  • Cangkuang Temple cultural preservation is located in a plain likely an island in the middle of a small lake that in Sundanese is called “Situ” and the village where the temple located in is surrounded by four huge mountains, namely Mt. Harumun, Mt. Kaledong, Mt. Mandalawangi and Mt. Guntur.
  • The road trip will continue to Bandung. Nicknamed Parijs van Java (Paris of Java) by the Dutch for its resemblance to Paris and European atmosphere back in colonial times.
  • The city sitting in a former lake with an altitude of 768 meters above sea level, the surroundings of lush and beautiful Parahyangan mountains makes the climate cooler than most major cities in Indonesia.
  • Spend your evening at leisure around this fashion city of Indonesia.
  • Dinner is at leisure.
  • Overnight in Bandung.

Day 04 : Bandung - Tangkuban Perahu - Angklung Show (B,L,D)

  • This morning after breakfast, we will drive to the north Bandung to visit the well known Tangkuban Perahu mount that is located precisely in Lembang. According to the legend, the mountain was originally a boat.
  • When you finish your panoramic walk, you can spend the rest of your morning to relax in the Ciater hot spring.
  • Lunch at the local restaurant.
  • The last stop in the north Bandung will be the Bosscha Observatory.
  • The construction of this oldest observatory in Indonesia began in 1923 and was completed in 1928.
  • In the afternoon we will take you back to Bandung to enjoy the show traditional music instrument called Angklung.
  • The angklung is popular throughout Southeast Asia, but it originated in what is now West Java and Banten provinces in Indonesia, and has been played by the Sundanese for many centuries and on November 18, 2010, UNESCO officially recognized Indonesian angklung as a Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
  • Angklung and its music has become the cultural identity of Sundanese communities in West Java and Banten.
  • Dinner at the local restaurant.
  • The evening is free for leisure activity.

Day 05 : Bandung - Airport (B)

  • After breakfast at the hotel, we will take you for a half-day Bandung city tour and visit some historical places.
  • The first stop would be Gedung Sate. Built and used by the Dutch companies, it is popular for its satay food decoration. It has 6 ornaments symbolizing 6 million guldens. Now it is used as the office for West Java governor. Enjoy the view of Bandung city from the top floor of the building.
  • The next historical place we will visit is Gedung Merdeka, the architectural wonder built for the rich previously and then made famous for hosting the first Asian-African conference.
  • Continue to stop over at Riau street or Dago street to have a short shopping stop for the hidden gems of quality clothes, shoes, bags and all else in various famous brands. All the items here are in good condition, brand new but in half the price.
  • The tour ends here. You will then have free time until your departure time.
