A tour at Borobudur, the biggest Buddha temple in Indonesia, is high on your list. You will trek up each platform of the temple to find out the story of its beautiful relief and closely observe the many Buddha statues on the top terrace. It’s then followed by a visit to another grand temple, Candi Prambanan. Most parts of this site are still ruin but the unique architecture will be sure to appeal to you. In fact, Prambanan is the largest Hindu temple in Southeast Asia. Your trip in Jogja will be wrapped up with a leisure walk or horse carriage ride around a laidback village of Candirejo.
Another culture city in Central Java, there are a lot to see and do in Solo. You’ll get a priceless opportunity to find out the secret of Batik Solo process. The skillful craftwomen will show you how to hand-wax the pattern on the clothes before the dyeing process. Not enough? Why don’t you try to make the batik yourselves? Solo has several unique isolated temples and we’ll show you two of them. They are the neighboring Sukuh and Cetho temples which required a nice drive through beautiful mountain roads. Sukuh is different. The architecture is unique and has nothing to do with the typical Hindu or Buddhist temples on Java. Instead, it bears greater resemblance to Mayan culture in Central America. Cetho is equally wonderful. Nestling in the middle of greenish valley, Cetho offers a nice panoramic walk up the hill amid the refreshing breeze.
