Java

The Heart of Indonesia

Java

Java is the most important island in Indonesian archipelago. The island is home to the capital city of Indonesia named Jakarta which becomes the governance hub of Indonesia. Big companies and top quality education are abundant in Java that many people outside Java come to the island every year in hope of the better lives. At 2013 census, the island of 128.297 km² is surprisingly occupied by more than a half of Indonesia’s entire populations.

“Though Java is mainly dominated by skyscrapers, the island keeps many nature wonders.”

Featuring most of Indonesia’s biggest cities, Java becomes the most modern island in the country. Infrastructures are complete and very accessible throughout the area even in its villages. Tourists need not to worry about transportation and accommodation as there are many options of those in Java.

Though Java is mainly dominated by skyscrapers, the island keeps many nature wonders. A group of smoking volcanoes are everywhere to be found in the island. In its central part, many cultural heritages depicting long history of Indonesia rest close to each other. Beaches in southeast coast are the prime surfing spots in Java as the waves are comparable to those in Hawaii and Tahiti.

Off the northwest coast, you’ll find mount Krakatau which most of the part is hidden below the water surface. The volcano is popular as its eruption in 1883 caused the most destructive tsunami in Indonesia. After the eruption, the volcano disappeared but another active volcano emerged from underwater which is known as mount Anak Krakatau.

Discover the best of Java tourism as we divide Java into three main areas below:

West Java

West Java is indeed a very busy industrial area with Jakarta as the number one metropolis. But away from the city, the region surprisingly offers a list of awesome natural attractions. The most interesting area in the region is highlands in the center and southern part where most visited attractions like crater, lakes and waterfalls are located.

Several hour-drive south of Jakarta, Bogor is waiting. The town is favorite weekend getaway for people living in neighboring cities. Mainly located on highland, Bogor has vast tea plantations and green fields to offer. Somewhere within Bogor’s peak area, Telaga Warna lake is hiding around lush trees. The water is quiet and the air is so fresh. Go on a bamboo boat to better enjoy the peaceful atmosphere the lake has to offer.

White Crater

Dazzling View around White Crater

Further to the east, you’ll arrive in Bandung. The town is surrounded by mountain, making it shaped like a giant bowl. Mount Tangkuban Perahu rises in the north end of the city. In the southern area, Bandung is lined by Mount Patuha with its famous White Crater. At some points, view in the crater is similar to the view of beach. The ground is totally white resembling white sand on the beach. The water is greenish just the same as the turquoise water of the sea.

“It’s only in the park that you can take a closer look at endangered Javan rhinos in their natural habitat.”

Do you prefer in-door vacation? Having fun in Bandung Trans Studio should be exciting. Listed as the biggest indoor theme park in the world, the park boasts countless challenging attractions you must try.

Far to the southeast, there is a unique river flanked by cliff known as Green Canyon. The attraction will definitely wow you as you can enjoy two towering canyons during your trip along the green-watered river. Moss and trees growing on the sides of the cliffs make the view of Green Canyon more exotic.

Anak Krakatau

Mount Anak Krakatau Spewing Sulfurous Smoke

Ujung Kulon National Park is another favorite attraction in west Java. The conservation area encompasses Ujung Kulon cape and several surrounding islands including Krakatau island. It’s only in the park that you can take a closer look at endangered Javan rhinos in their natural habitat. Are you curious to see mount Anak Krakatau? Go on boat and head for Krakatau island off the west coast. Tourists are allowed to climb the volcano but not to its peak. The top of Anak Krakatau is dangerous area as many sulfuric smokes come out of the ground.

“Yogyakarta along with Solo are the center of Javanese culture living museums.”

It consists of six square platforms on the lower level and three circular platforms on the upper part. On the top, no less than 72 Buddha statues meditate in perforated stupas. What makes the structure so special is value underlying it. Looking at the relief on each platform, the structure teaches people about journey of life based on Buddhism.
